    Associate Professor Brad Zebrack Recognized by American Psychosocial Oncology Society

    Young adults and teens with cancer face unique challenges, questions and concerns.  Associate Professor Brad Zebrack’s research found that young adult cancer patients benefit when oncology social workers are involved in their care.  His research has received national recognitions for the positive outcomes of his work.

    Laura Sanders, Esther Ayers and Elise Hernandez Recognized by the Organization of Latino Social Workers

    Congratulations to the 2014 Organization of Latino Social Workers award recipients:

    Adjunct Professor Laura Sanders - Activist of the Year

    Laura shared her award with Melanie Harner, Margaret Harner and Ramiro Martinez the other co-founders of the Washtenaw Interfaith Coalition of Immigrant Rights.

    Esther Ayers – MSW Student of the Year

    Elise Hernandez – PhD Student of the Year

    The Organization of Latino Social Workers is committed to improving the overall health and psychological well-being of the Latino population. The organization seeks to promote access to educational and economic opportunities for all Latino social workers.

    Professor and Associate Dean Jorge Delva was selected as President Elect (2014-2016), in addition to his position as Spanish Language Chair, of the Association of Latina and Latino Social Work Educators.

    Leslie Hollingsworth and Holly Revel-Hough (MSW'14) Published in Journal of Human Behavior in the Social Environment

    Associate Professor Leslie Hollingsworth and her student, MSW 2014 graduate Holly Revel-Hough’s manuscript, "The Developmental Progression of Transracial Experiences among South Korean Adoptees: A Review of the Literature" is now available online and will be published in the Journal of Human Behavior in the Social Environment.

    Linda Favitta (MSW'05) recently established a private practice. She serves youths, parents, co-parents and couples with special-needs children who are experiencing issues of grief and loss, family dynamics, and self-esteem issues. She also provides clinical supervision to licensed social workers.

    Norma Marie Keil Shaw (MSW'78) is a social worker in a subacute rehabilitation facility. She is also President of The Tuesday Musicale of Detroit, an organization that dates back to 1885. Norma plays clarinet in two orchestras as well as performs chamber music in Detroit.
