Community Conversation - Unveiling the Blind Spots: Understanding Why Gender-Based Violence is Often Overlooked in Social Work Discourse
April 8, 2024 - 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM ET
In this conversation, we hope to further the discussion on Gender-Based Violence and our roles as social workers. Gender-based violence is pervasive and has a significant impact on people and communities, however, there is a general lack of discourse on this public health issue within our field. This conversation aims to identify blind spots of intervention within our field and further explore ways to integrate effective responses into our practice.
This is a time for conversation – to share feelings and experiences and talk together as a community. To aid the conversation, space will be limited. (We know it's coming up soon, so if you miss it, don't fear! If there is a lot of interest in this topic, we can hold another session soon.
About the formatWith these smaller Community Conversations, our hope is to explore restorative dialogue and build community, creating a space where we are all teachers and learners. We will draw heavily on practices from intergroup dialogue and restorative justice.
