Conversations Across Social Disciplines History

The "Conversation Across Social Disciplines" (CASD) program was introduced in 2004 by students in the School of Social Work's joint doctoral program with the support of Professor Joseph Veroff. As scholars seeking advanced degrees in two separate but related fields, they designed the CASD program to help create models for collaboration across the social science disciplines.

By 2011, a shifting academic schedule made it difficult to maintain the program. Faculty and students missed the interdisciplinary discussions and the special opportunity to collaborate. In 2015, Professors Beth Reed, Letha Chadiha, and Berit Ingersoll-Dayton helped to raise funds to establish the Joseph Veroff and Katherine Pavelka Luke Fund to provide support to revive the CASD program.

With the financial support of the Joseph Veroff and Katherine Pavelka Luke Fund, the "Conversations Across Social Disciplines" program was re-established on Friday, October 7, 2016.
