The Mcard is your official University of Michigan identification card. You'll use it all over campus to identify yourself as a member of the university community. The UMID number is the cardholder's eight digit student number. The Mcard has many uses from building access to riding the bus for free on any fixed schedule AAATA bus route. You can also receive a discount at some businesses/organizations by showing your Mcard.

Please explore the U-M Mcard webpage for details and additional information.

As an incoming MSW student, after you have matriculated (accepted an offer of admission and paid the enrollment deposit) and set up your uniqname, you may obtain your Mcard one of two ways:

Option 1: Online

Submit a photo online via the New Ann Arbor Campus Graduate Student Photo Submission webpage.

  • Information will be provided soon on how to pick up your MCard.

Note that you are required to bring your government issued photo ID (i.e., US driver's license, state ID, military ID or passport) to pick up your Mcard.

Option 2: On-Campus

Go to an on-campus Mcard issuing station where they will take your photo and print out your Mcard. Please note that Mcard Centers are currently closed. Be sure to visit the Mcard issuing station webpage for updated information.
