U-M School of Social Work alumni are always striving to develop healthier, more resilient communities. Building Healthy, Strong Communities provides an opportunity for alumni to earn continuing education credits and inform their practice. Building Healthy, Strong Communities is an annual continuing education conference presented by the School of Social Work Alumni Board of Governors. The 2017 event was held on May 5, with more than 120 alumni attending.
“Building Healthy, Strong Communities provides a day for alumni to connect with each other and with the University,” said Anne Walker, a volunteer and member of the Alumni Board of Governors. “The workshops are diverse in nature and are taught by passionate, engaging alumni.”
“This is a unique event by Michigan for Michigan. All of the presenters have ties to the U-M School of Social Work and SSW alumni serve as the planning committee for the conference,” said Randy Ross the president of the SSW Alumni Board of Governors and co-chair of the planning committee.
The workshops highlight programs and projects that positively impact the health and wellness of our communities. Workshop topics this year included:
