My field placement experiences provided me with the space and support to create a strong professional identity as a social worker. My field instructors showed me how to approach the work with enthusiasm, compassion and professionalism. In both clinical and the school placements, I worked as a member of multidisciplinary teams to thoughtfully address clients needs. I learned how to partner with individuals and families in their change process, which is a very humbling experience. I was surprised by how well the theory I learned in my coursework informed my practice. My field experience provided me with the gift of confidence. I feel like I have the ability to use social work practice to make a difference.
