Michael Evangelist

Michael Evangelist MPP’07, MSW’17 is a doctoral student in the joint social work and sociology program at the University of Michigan. He is interested in using administrative and survey data to study the effect of individual characteristics and social factors on disparities in life outcomes. His research has focused on the influence of public housing on health, as well as racial and gender disparities in the juvenile justice system, and in the experiences of homelessness among children and youth. He is also interested in understanding how political, economic, and social context influence the administration of public programs and in differences in social trust between groups and across time. Prior to graduate school Michael was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine and worked as a policy analyst for the National Employment Law Project.
