Sheldon Siegel was appointed to the faculty as assistant professor on a federal aging grant. Siegel came to the faculty with a BA from Michigan, an MSW from Wayne State University, considerable practice experience, and doctoral studies at Michigan, where he completed a dissertation entitled "Organizational Growth: Expansion and Diversity in Schools of Social Work." At Michigan Siegel served as director of the Office of Admissions and FInancial AId, taught in the areas of administration and aging, and was a faculty associate in the Institute of Gerontology. IN 1979 Siegel left the university to become director of the School of Social Work at the University of Cincinnati, hence leaving to become dean of the School of Social Work at Indiana University.
