Lauren N. Whitmer

Lauren Whitmer (MSW 2015 Community Organizing; MA 2010 International Relations – Latin America, Graduate Certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies) is a doctoral candidate in Social Work and Anthropology at the University of Michigan. Her dissertation research explores relationships of help-seeking and help-giving around Intimate Partner Violence in northern Peru. She is involved in several community organizing efforts around gender violence, anti-racist activism, mutual-aid, and other social justice issues, and has practice experience in crisis intervention.
