Child Analytics

In this proposal, the child and adolescent data lab, and Dr. Ryan as the PI, will be responsible for the timely completion of all project tasks/activities. Dr. Ryan will be supported by Dr. Brian Perron (professor), Dr. Miyoung Yoon (a new post doctoral fellow from Case Western University) and Emily Piellusch (a full time data analyst). The CVs for each responsible party are attached. In terms of the primary leads, Dr. Ryan is a Professor at the UM‐School of Social Work. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. Dr. Ryan has extensive experience conducting research and analyzing data in child welfare settings, with numerous studies focusing on child maltreatment, parental substance abuse, childhood trauma and juvenile delinquency. Dr. Ryan has more than 10 years of direct practice experience in children’s services and serves on the editorial boards of numerous journals that publish research on child welfare, including Child Maltreatment, Child Welfare, Social Work Research, and Residential Treatment for Children and Youth. Dr. Perron is a Professor at the UM‐School of Social Work. He received his Ph.D. in Social Work from Washington University and a certificate in Data Science from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Perron has published over 100 scientific papers that have utilized a broad range of statistical procedures using a variety of data sources. Dr. Perron recently published a book on measurement and has taught numerous courses and workshops on various aspects of data management and analysis. He also specializes in data visualization and has expertise creating interactive graphics and dynamic reports for non‐technical users. Drs. Ryan and Perron have extensive education, training and professional experience with advanced statistical methods. The combined experiences of Drs. Ryan and Perron cover all knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined in the scope of the proposal.
