AMPLIFYING YOUTH VOICES:MICHIGAN YOUTH CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

The purpose of the program is to amplify the voices of young people in civil rights leadership in Michigan, by involving them in a statewide face-to-face summit, online speak-outs, and other activities. Michigan needs a new generation of young people who can participate in the civil rights decisions and institutions that affect their lives. “Participation” refers the active engagement and real power of young people to strengthen social justice and influence decision-making, not to the number of young people that attend a number of meetings, without any real effect on the outcomes.
