Addressing financial hardship in adolescent and young adult cancer survivors: Efficacy and implementation of a multilevel intervention in community-based oncology practices

The primary objective of this research is to derive and test an intervention addressing financial hardship among adolescent and young adult cancer patients. This study has three specific aims: Aim 1: To synthesize CHAT and LIFT to create FinFit, an intervention to address the unique, multilevel determinants of financial hardship among AYAs treated in community oncology practices. Aim 2: To conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of FinFit, a multilevel intervention, to address financial hardship among AYAs. Aim 3: To develop guidance for implementing FinFit to be tested in a future hybrid effectiveness-implementation trial. For this proposal, Dr. Zebrack will serve as the site Principal Investigator. In this role, he will: • Maintain the Michigan budget • Plan effective recruitment strategies • Support qualitative and quantitative data interpretation • Disseminate study results through co-authoring conference abstracts and peer-reviewed manuscripts
