For over 30 years, MEDA has been a leader in building inclusive community, advancing awareness, and supporting individuals and families in recovery.

Position Overview
MEDA is seeking a strategic, energetic, and mission-driven Director of Development & Advancement to lead and grow the organization’s fundraising and partnership efforts. This senior leader will oversee all aspects of donor engagement, corporate sponsorships, grants, and advancement initiatives, while collaborating across departments to support MEDA’s annual conference and fundraising events. The ideal candidate brings a passion for MEDA’s mission, experience building sustainable donor pipelines, and a knack for relationship-building across diverse audiences including
individual donors, treatment centers, and corporate partners.


MEDA is looking for a passionate and experienced fundraiser to lead our development and sponsorship efforts! This senior role will cultivate donors, secure corporate and treatment center sponsorships, pursue grants, and support our fundraising events and national conference. The position is for the Director of Development and Advance for the Multi-Service Eating Disorders Association (MEDA), a nonprofit organization located in the Greater Boston area. The position is hybrid, though someone relatively local is preferred. The job description is attached to this email, and includes someone with leadership skills around donor engagement, fundraising, sponsorships, grant writing, and advancement initiatives. 

MEDA is unique within the eating disorder treatment, prevention, and education world as it focuses on addressing anti-fat bias within the eating disorder and medical fields, elevating principles of ADEI within every aspect of eating disorder prevention and recovery work, and facilitates an annual conference known for amplifying voices of minoritized providers and researchers, as well as those with lived experience as a way to improve the field so every body can access the treatment they need for disordered eating and eating disorders.

Someone with training in macro social work practices would be ideal for this type of position with this type of organization. 


Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Engagement
1. Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy with a focus on donor
cultivation, retention, and major gift stewardship.
2. Oversee donor database and ensure data integrity and timely communications.
3. Collaborate with Executive Director and Board on donor strategy and engagement
efforts.


Corporate Sponsorships & Professional Outreach
1. Identify, secure, and steward corporate sponsors and partners for MEDA’s annual
conference and other initiatives.

2. Cultivate relationships with treatment centers and other professional organizations
to increase sponsor engagement and expand MEDA’s professional network.
3. Support outreach efforts to grow MEDA’s Professional Member community.


Grants & Institutional Giving
1. Research and pursue grant opportunities aligned with MEDA’s mission and
programming.
2. Write, submit, and track grant proposals and reports, in collaboration with program
staff.


Event Support
1. Partner with staff and volunteers to plan and execute MEDA’s Annual National
Conference and fundraising events.
2. Oversee sponsor fulfillment and visibility at events.


Collaboration & Leadership
1. Supervise advancement support staff or interns (as needed).
2. Work closely with communications and program teams to align messaging and
strategy.
3. Report regularly on progress to Executive Director and Board of Directors.

Qualifications
1. Minimum 5 years of nonprofit fundraising or advancement experience, with a proven
track record of securing individual, corporate, or foundation support.
2. Demonstrated experience managing donor or sponsor pipelines and using CRM
systems.
3. Strong writing and communication skills, especially for donor-facing materials and
grant proposals.
4. Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on implementation.
5. Experience in or passion for mental health, eating disorders, or healthcare sectors
preferred.
6. Self-starter, adaptable, and team-oriented.

Compensation & Benefits
1. Salary Range: $85,000–$105,000, commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits package included. MEDA is committed to pay transparency and equitable hiring practices.
