Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District serves a diverse community, including a large Alaska Native population, as well as Filipino and other ethnic groups. Much of our work focuses on crisis management, resource coordination, and building strong partnerships between teachers, staff, and tribal organizations to foster a trauma-informed school environment. We operate within the MTSS tiered system and have dedicated significant efforts to suicide prevention, outreach, and post-vention.
Our team offers a supportive and collaborative environment, including weekly one-hour individual supervision sessions, as well as bi-weekly three-hour group supervision and professional development meetings. These supervision hours can be applied toward licensure requirements for both LMSW and LCSW candidates, as well as toward School Social Work Certification through any accredited university.
Job Summary: Provides support and mental health services to students at assigned school(s). Collaborates in team MTSS intervention meetings regarding students. Delivers lessons to students in areas of mental health. Trains and provides expertise to staff in areas of specialty. Make referrals to additional support services.
Essential Job and Duties:
(1) Provides school social work services to students who are at-risk for school failure and/or are demonstrating the need to receive social/emotional support to address social, emotional, or behavioral concerns within the school setting. (2) Acts as a liaison between the home, school and community providers to access, mobilize and coordinate services. (3) Provides crisis intervention services as needed. (4) Performs other professional work that furthers the district mission, goals, and initiatives.
Requirements:
Minimum Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW)
Hold a License of Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or License of Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Alaska.
Hold a School Social Work Certification from an accredited graduate program.
DEED Type C Certification
A minimum of two years experience in social work or mental health counseling required. Experience in children’s mental health preferred.
Pay: $78,535.00 - $122,735.00 per year
