Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Child Advocacy Center Counselor to assist in providing services at
the Child Advocacy Center (CAC). Under the direction of the Program Director, Sexual
Assault Services, and in collaboration with the Child Advocacy Center Coordinator, this role
focuses on family case management, community education, and forensic interviews for
children at the CAC site.
This position requires a compassionate professional who can work closely with multidisciplinary
teams, provide direct support to victims and families, and ensure all services are delivered with
empathy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
 Coordinate and participate within the multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive
services to clients.
 Provide on-site advocacy, crisis intervention, and support to children and their
families.
 Conduct forensic interviews for children at the CAC site.
 Educate clients and families about sexual assault, abuse, and available services.
 Provide trauma-informed therapy to child sexual assault victims and their families.
 Offer case management services, including follow-up advocacy for clients and
communication with multidisciplinary team members.
 Maintain accurate client records, documentation, and follow-up information.
 Participate in monthly case reviews and coordinated investigative team interviews.
 Gather and input data for grants, statistical reporting, and client case accuracy.

 Assist with intake assessments to ensure that each client and family receives the
appropriate services.

What We’re Looking For
 Education: Master’s degree in Social Work or a related Human Services field
required.
 Licensure:
o Licensure in Social Work, Counseling, or a related field required.
o Limited License acceptable (must be valid and in good standing in the state of
Michigan).

 Preferred Training: Experience in the dynamics of sexual assault and child sexual
abuse preferred.
 Skills & Abilities:
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
o Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
o Capacity to remain calm in high-stress situations and handle sensitive
conversations with care.
o High level of flexibility, patience, and ability to manage confrontation.
o Strong analytical and decision-making skills under pressure.
 Physical Requirements:
o Regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, and sitting.
o Some lifting of light objects.
