Allie Phillips

Allie Phillips is an author, attorney and advocate for protecting vulnerable victims. As Founder & CEO of the Sheltering Animals & Families Together (SAF-T)® Program, she has led the global movement in helping domestic violence shelters to create on-site pet housing. As a result of her groundbreaking work to create safe housing for families with pets, she was the recipient of the 2018 Trailblazer Award from the Urban Resource Institute and 2015 Top Defender of Animals award recipient from the Animal Legal Defense Fund. She is a former prosecuting attorney who worked for the National District Attorneys Association as the Founder/Director of the National Center for Prosecution of Animal Abuse and Deputy Director of the National Center for Prosecution of Child Abuse. She was the Vice President of Public Policy and Vice President of Human-Animal Strategic Initiatives for American Humane Association where she launched initiatives including incorporating therapy animals into investigating & prosecuting child abuse. With over 31 years of experience in helping animal and human survivors of abuse, she has been educating criminal justice professionals since 1997 and specializing in how animal abuse links to family violence.
