Christina Dadswell

Christina Dadswell

Christina Dadswell is the assistant director of the Office of Field Education for residential students at the School of Social Work where she is responsible for supporting strategic plans, innovation, curricular development and collaborating with other faculty and social work agency partners across campus and nationally. As a full-time faculty member, she is also an instructor for multiple courses in the Interpersonal Practice and Welfare of Children & Families pathways. Dadswell is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and educator with over 15 years of experience as a clinician and clinical director in multiple community-based settings serving children, adults and families. Her direct practice experience has been driven by her commitment to advocating for underserved clients who experience trauma, barriers to treatment access or barriers related to accessibility. She has held the following certifications: Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager (C-ASWCM), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy specialization (CBT). Prior to joining the faculty at U-M, Dadswell was a faculty member at Wayne State University School of Social Work and concurrently the clinical director of the outpatient practice she founded, where she combined evidence-based therapy practices with a trauma-informed, child/client-centered approach to provide adaptive interventions for diverse needs and abilities of each child, adult and family. Dadswell is a member of the U-M Concussion Center, and also co-leads the Trauma-Informed Programs and Practices for Schools (TIPPS) Scholars Program at the School of Social Work. Areas of interest include clinical social work practice, anxiety/trauma, child/youth development, child-centered play therapy, trauma-informed practices in schools, CBT, disability/accessibility, concussion/traumatic brain injury, depression/bipolar and pain management
