In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, join us as we host two panelists, Dr. Luis Zayas from the University of Texas - Austin and Carlos Peña of the International Rescue Committee, to discuss legal and psycho-social issues experienced by Latino families from Central America at the US-Mexico border who are seeking asylum and safety and instead experience injustices and trauma. This panel discussion is sponsored by the University of Michigan Latinx Faculty and Staff Research Group, the SSW Global Social Work Pathway, and the SSW Office of Global Activities. Watch one of the speaker’s previous TED talks on the topic here. Watch a video about the U.S. Border-Industrial Complex by author Robert Reich here.
