Share, Explore, Engage, Discover (SEED) is the School of Social Work's orientation experience. SEED features programming tailored to incoming students. The goals of SEED include strengthening connection and community at the School of Social Work, exploring PODS (privilege, oppression, diversity, & social justice), and learning foundation-level social work skills.
We are excited to offer Fall SEED Orientation virtually via Canvas with a combination of synchronous live Zoom meetings and asynchronous recorded videos and materials. Where possible, live Zoom meetings will be recorded and posted for those that are unable to attend at scheduled times. However, we expect and strongly prefer that all incoming MSW students attend Virtual Fall SEED Orientation during scheduled times.
Fall SEED Orientation will include a SW510 SEED Mini-Course with various engaging topics to choose from. All incoming MSW students are expected to register for a section of SW510 when they register for fall term courses.
Virtual Fall SEED Orientation will provide a great opportunity to experience Canvas, which is the learning management system and online space for all SSW courses.
All incoming MSW students will be added to a 'Fall SEED Orientation' Canvas "course" before orientation week begins. Various online activities are scheduled each day during Fall SEED Orientation Week, August 25 - August 28, 2020, including group virtual meetings with faculty advisors, a pre-field education workshop (if starting field in the fall), and more!
