My field placement has been an integral part of my professional development as a macro social worker. I have gained not only a profound respect for research and evaluation, but I have also gained the skills and competencies necessary to facilitate positive change at the organizational level. I have learned how important it is to have social workers researching the effects of oppression, poverty and multiculturalism on various populations in order to better inform social work practices. While my field placement was incredibly valuable, as it introduced me to areas of the social work field where I had little prior exposure. I am grateful for the experience and eager to put these new skills to work in my professional career.
