    Todd Herrenkohl Appointed Editor in Chief of the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research

    Todd I. Herrenkohl the Marion Elizabeth Blue Professor of Children and Families is the editor in chief of the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research (JSSWR). The journal is a peer-reviewed publication dedicated to presenting innovative, rigorous original research on social problems, intervention programs, and policies. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Herrenkohl as JSSWR’s editor-in-chief,” says Luis H. Zayas, president of the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Board of Directors. “I’m certain that Todd will continue the journal’s upward trajectory and legacy of excellence, bringing new ideas to further advance social work research, knowledge, and impact." Herrenkohl will serve a 5-year term, 2020–2025, during which time he also will head the JSSWR Editorial Board and serve as a member of the SSWR Committee on Publications.

    When children experience stress and adversity in their homes and communities, schools become a critically important setting in which to intervene and foster their resilience. Marion Elizabeth Blue Professor of Children and Families Todd Herrenkohl has collaborated on a video to help school professionals understand and better educate vulnerable and traumatized students.

    Marion Elizabeth Blue Professor of Children and Families Todd Herrenkohl is featured in the U-M Washington D.C. Update  for his service on the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

    Todd Herrenkohl Named 2019 Society for Social Work and Research Fellow

    Todd Herrenkohl, Marion Elizabeth Blue Professor of Children and Families is named a 2019 Society for Social Work and Research Fellow.

    The Society for Social Work and Research Fellows are members who have served with distinction to advance the mission of the Society — to advance, disseminate, and translate research that addresses issues of social work practice and policy and promotes a diverse, equitable and just society.

    Todd Herrenkohl Appointed to the Board of Scientifc Counselors for the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

    Todd Herrenkohl, Marion Elizabeth Blue Professor of Child and Family was recently appointed by Alex Azar, the Secretary of Health and Human Services to the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Board advises and makes recommendations to the Secretary, Department of Health and Human Services; the Director, Center for Disease Control and Prevention; and the Director, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control regarding surveillance, basic epidemiologic research, intervention research and implementation, dissemination and evaluation of promising and evidence-based strategies for the prevention of injury and violence.
