Professor William Elliott III and Assistant Professor Kristin Seefeldt received a grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc. via the Wabash County Young Men's Christian Association Inc. (Indiana) to examine the impact of providing financial awards based on learning, college planning, and savings behaviors on academic achievement and school attendance.

Brittany Schuler (postdoctoral fellow) and Associate Dean for Research and Professor Joe Himle received a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation for their study which contributes to a Culture of Health by enhancing our understanding of healthy-eating habits and healthy weight among children within low-resourced communities in the U.S.
Professor Karla Goldman was cited in the Michigan Today article, “Hillel at 90.” She also contributed her piece, “Looking a Little More Deeply into C.C. Little” to the LearnSpeakAct blog.
Clinical Assistant Professor Deb Mattison received a 2017 Demonstration Model Award from the Midwest Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research Center, a multi-institution coalition dedicated to incorporating interprofessional health practice with education in the Midwest region. She created the IPE Course Adapter Toolkit, a web-based resource that serves as a “one-stop shop” for instructors interested in converting their existing courses to interprofessional offerings.
Sara Stein (PhD student) and Associate Professor Andy Grogan-Kaylor’s article, “Profiles of Children's Thinking About Violence in Families Exposed to Intimate Partner Violence” was published in the Journal of Child and Family Studies.
LEO Lecturer Tony Alvarez was selected to give the Kurt Hahn Address at the 2017 Association for Experiential Education Conference this November in Montreal.
