Professor and Associate Dean for Research Jorge Delva has been appointed member of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Commission on Membership and Professional Development. The Commission supports the Council on Conferences and Faculty Development, Council on Leadership Development, and Council on Publications; as well as facilitates and integrates the development of innovative programs, methods, and materials that enhance and strengthen the delivery of social work education.
Professors Jorge Delva, Tom Powell, Larry Root and Mieko Yoshihama are presenting papers at the Global Health and Well-Being Conference. Through presentation of strong international research and examinations of social programs designed to understand and ameliorate the world's most pressing health and social problems, the conference will contribute to better understanding of the social work profession's contributions to human well-being around the world.
Sandra Iaderosa, MSW '85, a Clinical Social Work Manager at the U-M Hospitals and Health Centers in Ann Arbor was recently a recipient of the Work/Life Champion Award for Supervisors. This award recognizes U-M supervisors who promote work/life balance through consistent recognition of and responsiveness to their employee’s professional and personal lives, incorporating important job demands along with customer and team needs.
Associate Professor Robert Ortega wrote a Faculty Perspective: Examining Diversity and Inclusion at U-M. It was published in the University Record.
Associate Professor Lydia Li has been awarded a Fellow from the Gerontological Society of America, Social Research, Policy and Practice Section. A fellowship acknowledges outstanding work in the field of gerontology.

Clinical Assistant Professor of Social Work Sue Ann Savas received an award from the University of Michigan Provost's Office for her project that proposes implementation and pilot testing of an intensive 2-course program evaluation experience for graduate students.
Professor of Social Work Mieko Yoshihama had an article entitled "Intimate Partner Violence Prevention in an Asian Immigrant Community: Integrating Theories, Data, and Community" was named "one of the ten Best Violence Research Articles of 2012" by the Psychology of Violence Panel.
