Assistant professor Daphne Watkins was selected to receive ​the U-M Comprehensive Depression Center’s 2014 Phil Jenkins Award for Innovation in Depression Treatment.

Associate Professor Diane Kaplan Vinokur is now a Faculty Associate at the Center for Social Impact at the Ross School of Business. She will ensure that the Center for Social Impact will more thoroughly examine topics such as social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and community development.

Professor John Tropman was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare.

Professor Larry Root was invited to present at the 10th annual Beijing Forum, organized by Peking University. He will be part of the panel session on "Social-Economic Development and State Governance in Comparative Perspective".

Professor Lorraine Gutierrez received the Jane Addams Medallion for her exceptional long-term organizing work with multicultural communities in Detroit at the Fielder, Brown, Duffy Education Social Justice Festival.

Professor Lorraine Gutierrez, Professor Larry Gant and Assistant Professor Katie Richards-Schuster edited “Community Organization in the Twenty-First Century: Scholarship and Practice Directions for the Future” which was published as the current issue of the Journal of Community Practice.

Associate professor Luke Shaefer was cited in a Financial Times article, “Are 12 million Americans living on less than $2 a day?”.

Clinical Assistant Professor Sue Ann Savas received an award from the Administration for Children and Families - Children's Bureau via the Michigan Department of Human Services - Office of Child Support to collect and analyze pilot project test data and report written results to the project partners.
