Lauren Reed successfully defended her dissertation entitled "Digital Dating Abuse: A gendered, contextual approach to dating violence in the digital world" and obtained her PhD in Social Work and Psychology.

Assistant Professor Desmond Patton was cited in the Michigan Radio article, “‘Internet banging:’ How social media is fueling gang violence”.

Assistant Professor Kristin Seefeldt was cited in The Washington Post article, “Kansas has found the ultimate way to punish the poor”.

Professor Barry Checkoway was quoted in the Detroit Free Press article, “An F in civil rights education: Michigan to revamp lessons”. He was also cited in the Lansing State Journal article, "After failing grade, state revamps civil rights lessons". 

Associate Professor Brian Perron's paper, "Use of Prescription Pain Medications Among Medical Cannabis Patients: Comparisons of Pain Levels, Functioning, and Patterns of Alcohol and Other Drug Use" was featured in U.S. News and World Report, Web MD, Science World Report, ScienceDaily, and Healthline.

Professor and Associate Dean Ruth Dunkle discussed aging in place with LeadingAge magazine.

Adrian Gale (PhD student), Desmond Patton, and Reuben Miller’s paper, "Hardiness Scripts:  High Achieving African American Males in a Chicago Charter School Navigating Community Violence and School" was accepted for publication in the Journal of Community Psychology.

Professor John Tropman and PhD student Amanda Tillotson's article, “Early Responders, Late Responders, and Non-Responders: The Principal-Agent Problem in Board Oversight of Nonprofit CEOs” has been nominated and chosen to receive the Human Service Organizations: Management, Leadership & Governance Mary Parker Follette Award for its outstanding theory-informed research.
