Associate Professor Rogério Pinto was the featured speaker at the colloquium, “Community Health Agents in Brazil and implications for the development of similar programs in other countries” which was held at the University of Chile School of Public Health.

Professor Sandra Danziger and Clinical Assistant Professor Sue Ann Savas received a grant from Poverty Solutions for their project, “The systemic effects of SNAP benefit cuts on Washtenaw County poverty alleviation institutions”. The project aims to measure the burden of cuts to the SNAPS benefits on poverty alleviation institutions/organizations in Washtenaw County and use the findings to guide future policy advocacy efforts.

Elizabeth Armstrong's (PhD student) letter to the editor about media coverage of the Trump administration, "Media Under Trump" was published in The New Yorker.

Lisa O'Donnell (PhD Social Work and Clinical Science '16), Professor Joe Himle, and Associate Professor Andy Grogan-Kaylor's article, "Social Aspects of the Workplace Stress and Occupational Functioning among Individuals with Bipolar Disorder" was published in the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research.

Professor Lorraine Gutiérrez was a featured panelist at the panel discussion, “Academic freedom and diversity: Viewpoints on institutional practices and tensions”, which was held at the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. The panel itself will be on CSPAN3 later this year.

Assistant Professor Mathieu Despard's article, "Effects of Tax-Time Savings Intervention on Use of Alternative Financial Services among Lower-Income Households" was published in the Journal of Consumer Affairs.

Min Hee Kim, Angie Perone (PhD students) and Professor Ruth Dunkle's article, "Caregiver stressors and depressive symptoms among older husbands and wives in the United States" was published in the Journal of Women and Aging.

Professor Ruth Dunkle was elected to be the next president of the Society for Social Work and Research at the 2017 national conference in New Orleans.
