Dr. William Cabin has had a second paper accepted for presentation at the Society for the Study of Social Problems Annual Meeting in August 2017 in Montreal, Canada. The paper is entitled, "No One Really Cares”: The Lived Experience of Community-based Persons with Alzheimer’s disease (PWAD) and their Caregivers” and is based on Dr. Cabin's ongoing qualitative research projects.
Associate Dean for Research and Professor Joe Himle and Curtis Center Manager Ebony Reddock received a grant from the Skillman Foundation to evaluate the skillset of the 482Forward membership, a citywide education organizing network in Detroit,by conducting a survey with a select group of members.
Professor Brad Zebrack and Curtis Center Manager Ebony Reddock received a grant from the Merck Foundation to establish U-M as the National Program Office for the Merck Foundation Alliance to Advance Patient-Centered Cancer Care. They will monitor and assure that high-quality scientific research is conducted in a fiscally responsive manner.
Professor Jorge Delva was accepted to the 2017-2018 New Leadership Academy Fellows Program. The learning strategies informing the fellowship experience are premised on a recognition that the demographic, democratic, and discursive foundations on which modern higher education have been built are changing.
Associate Professor Luke Shaefer and Assistant Professors Mathieu Despard and Addie Weaver were featured in the February 2017 issue of U-M Research, which focuses on Poverty Solutions.
Assistant Professor Mathieu Despard’s article, “Revenue diversification and the financial challenges and strengths of non-governmental organizations in sub-Saharan Africa” was published in the International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations.
Professor Richard Tolman’s article, “Association Among Father Involvement, Partner Violence, and Paternal Health: UN Multi-Country Cross-Sectional Study on Men and Violence” was published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
Sara Stein (PhD student) received the Research Grant for Scholarship and Creative Activities Focusing on Women and Gender from the U-M Institute for Research on Women and Gender.
Assistant Professor Emily Nicklett’s article, “Neighborhood Environment and Falls among Community-Dwelling Older Adults” was published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
