Christina Dadswell

Field Faculty and LEO Lecturer III

Christina Dadswell

Christina Dadswell is a full-time faculty member/LEO III at the U-M School of Social Work. She is a licensed master social worker and educator with over 15 years of experience as a clinical therapist and clinical director in multiple community-based settings. Prior to joining the faculty at U-M, Dadswell was at Wayne State University for over 10 years, first with a role in supervision, then as faculty in the School of Social Work. In 2018, she founded her clinical practice, a woman-owned small business where she has combined evidence-based therapy practices with a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to provide adaptive interventions that address the diverse needs and abilities of each adult, child and family.

Her clinical experiences have been driven by her commitment to advocating for underserved clients who experience barriers to treatment access or barriers to accessibility and self-determination due to disability. Areas of expertise include anxiety/trauma, child/youth development, disability, accessibility, depression/bipolar and pain management. She is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), certified in cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and was a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager (C-ASWCM). Dadswell holds a bachelor’s in psychology with a focus on developmental psychology, and a Master of Social Work in Interpersonal Practice in Mental Health. Her educational background at U-M also includes Deaf culture and American Sign Language. In addition to teaching, she is an active member and speaker for the Brain Injury Association of Michigan and is involved with the Council for Disability Concerns at U-M.
