Liz Haas (she/her/hers), LMSW ACSW CST CSE, is the Assistant Director of the University of Michigan Sexual Health Certificate Program (SHCP). Within SHCP, Liz teaches a course on advanced training in sex therapy. Liz is a lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and has taught courses on social work practice, therapeutic assessment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). For 14 and a half years, Liz was a Clinical Social Worker at the Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Hospital in the Primary Care Mental Health Integration and Substance Use Disorders Clinics. She practiced evidence-based interventions for sexual health, chronic pain, insomnia, depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, and substance use problems. Liz was a VA trainer for CBT for Chronic Pain. Research on CBT for Chronic Pain has resulted in co-authoring the journal article "Treating chronic pain in Veterans presenting to addictions treatment program" (Cognitive Behavioral Practice, 2009). Liz left the VA in 2021 to pursue a PhD in Social Work from Wayne State University.
