Shannon R. Lane, LMSW, PhD is Associate Professor in social work at Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University. Her research includes efforts to increase the political involvement of social workers and underserved populations. Her political social work experience includes eight years with U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle. Shannon earned her BA in Psychology from George Washington University, MSW from the University of Michigan, and PhD in Social Work from the University of Connecticut. She leads the research committee at the Humphreys Institute for Political Social Work at the University of Connecticut, and is a member of the Council on the Status and Role of Women in Social Work Education, and the advisory board of the Congressional Research Institute for Social Work and Policy (CRISP). Her first book, Political Social Work: Using Power to Create Social Change, with Dr. Suzanne Pritzker, was just published by Springer Publishing. Her second book, Social Policy in a Changing World, will be published by Sage in 2020.
