  2. Student Conversation - Winter Semester Student Conversation - Winter Semester

    October 29, 2020 - 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM ET

We invite you to a conversation with students about the winter semester.  The School is seeking opportunities to hear from faculty and students about how we can organize our winter semester.  With so much online, how do we connect with one another?  How do we build community?  How do we learn from and with each other as we prepare to be practicing social workers?  We would love to hear your thoughts and ideas.  To aid the conversation, space will be limited.

About the format. A few students and faculty have decided to try something different - smaller community conversations.  Our hope is that this can take topics that lend themselves better to verbal dialogue off of email and into a face-to-face (or screen-to-screen!) environment. We will draw heavily on practices from intergroup dialogue and restorative justice.

  8. Building Efficient Meetings and Producing Effective Decisions: Achieve Twice as Much in Half the Time

    November 6, 2020 - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET

This session shares results from the Meetings Masters/Decision Maestros Research Project intended to help social workers conduct more effective meetings. The first part of the session highlights practices from Meeting Masters, including the Menu Agenda, and the Agenda Bell. Principles of the Meeting Masters help social workers in the four phases of meeting - preplanning, facilitating/running the meeting itself, processing items for the next meeting, and follow up and implementation of decisions and actions. The second portion reviews several examples of "decision rottenosity" and outlines the process of decision crystallization.

Registration for this course is closed. Visit the CE Course Catalog for more offerings.
