Our shared commitment to social work is fueled by a deep passion for social justice. However, we often find ourselves facing challenges when our strong perspectives clash. Although our classes equip us with skills to put aside our differences for the benefit of our clients and communities, an important question remains: How do we address differences with our colleagues?

Let us come together in a community conversation to explore our challenges and discuss ways to embrace our individual perspectives while maintaining a firm commitment to respect and integrity. To aid the conversation, space will be limited. (We know it's coming up soon, so if you miss it, don't fear!  If there is a lot of interest in this topic, we can hold another session soon.)

About the format. With these smaller Community Conversations, our hope is to explore restorative dialogue and build community, creating a space where we are all teachers and learners. We will draw heavily on practices from intergroup dialogue and restorative justice.

Associate Professor Lindsay Bornheimer's Sucide Prevention, Treatment, and Research (STaR) Lab is hosting a suicide prevention event in McGregor Commons on Monday, October 30, 12-3 PM. Come join us to learn more about suicide prevention, participate in an art project and take home a Halloween-themed goody bag. We hope to see you all there!
