  6. In-Person Community Conversation - SSW Culture & Climate

    July 30, 2021 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

We invite you to a community conversation about the culture and climate at the School of Social Work.

This will be our very first in-person community conversation! It will take place at the School of Social Work's Courtyard, weather permitting. If bad weather occurs, the event will take place in room 1636.

These conversations are a time for just that - conversation.  You can ask questions, raise thoughts or concerns, and talk together as a school community. This specific conversation will be about climate and culture within our school.  What should our culture look and feel like?  What would it mean if we were truly inclusive? How do we welcome our new cohort of students in a way that encourages them towards this vision? What role can each of us play?

To aid the conversation, space will be limited. (We know it's coming up soon, so if you miss it, don't fear!  If there is a lot of interest in this topic, we can hold another session soon.)

About the format. A few students and faculty have decided to try something different - smaller community conversations. Our hope is that this can take topics that lend themselves better to verbal dialogue off of email and into a face-to-face environment. We will draw heavily on practices from intergroup dialogue and restorative justice.
