    What's the program really like? Where is your field placement? What do social work students do for fun? What is Ann Arbor like in the Winter? Join an MSW student as well as other admitted MSW students for a live webchat about the School of Social Work.  Our MSW students are excited to answer any questions that you have and share their feedback about the program.

  4. Post MSW Clinical Fellowship at StartMyWellness

    March 10, 2022 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

    On Thursday, March 10 from 12 - 1 pm. Kendra Nash, 2021 graduate, will discuss the path to a clinical fellowship and will reflect on what the post MSW work experience looks like. Dr. Anton Babushkin, CEO, will be available to answer questions about the application process and what the fellowship has to offer you.

  5. International Student Coffee Hour

    March 10, 2022 - 12:30pm to 1:30pm

    The Office of Global Activities hosts a bi-weekly coffee hour for all international students and visitors in the School of Social Work. In this coffee hour, we will discuss the topic of applying to PhD programs in the United States as an international student. Rita Hu and Taha Rauf, who are international students currently pursuing their PhDs at U-M, will be joining as guest speakers to share their experiences and answer questions. This will be a hybrid event, so attendees will have the option to participate in person or via Zoom.

  6. Job Opportunity with Friends of the Children/Network with Alum Dr. Harry Cohen

    March 10, 2022 - 1:00pm to 2:00pm

    On Thursday, March 10 from 1 - 2 pm, we welcome alum Dr. Harry Cohen to discuss his career journey as a social worker and talk about a job opportunity with an organization that is near and dear to his heart - Professional Mentor at Friends of the Children. Friends of the Children is a nonprofit that is impacting generational change by empowering youth through relationships with professional mentors. 

    Harry Cohen Harry received his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Cornell in 1978 and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1988. After a decade in private practice, Harry ran leadership conferences for automotive executives for 12 years. Currently, as an Executive Coach, Harry’s expertise is to help leaders at all levels in organizations focus on their unique strengths by helping executives and high potential managers hone their leadership skills. Harry is also a restaurateur (The Black Pearl)  and entrepreneur.

  7. Building Efficient Meetings and Producing Effective Decisions: Achieve Twice as Much in Half the Time

    March 11, 2022 (all day)

    This session shares results from the Meetings Masters/Decision Maestros Research Project intended to help social workers conduct more effective meetings. The first part of the session highlights practices from Meeting Masters, including the Menu Agenda, and the Agenda Bell. Principles of the Meeting Masters help social workers in the four phases of meeting - preplanning, facilitating/running the meeting itself, processing items for the next meeting, and follow up and implementation of decisions and actions. The second portion reviews several examples of "decision rottenosity" and outlines the process of decision crystallization.

  9. MSW Virtual Open House 2022 MSW Virtual Open House 2022

    March 11, 2022 - 12:00pm to 1:30pm

    MSW Virtual Open House is focused on providing information for students admitted to or applying for the MSW program. 

    This online session will address many questions that students have before starting the MSW program. Faculty, staff, and students of the MSW program will be available to discuss the curriculum, field placement, career services, and more. There will be an opportunity to ask questions during the session. Join us!

    The session will be recorded and a copy will be sent to everyone who RSVPs. Students who cannot join live will receive the recording link.

  10. Certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health & Primary Care | Combined Pediatric & Adult Tracks

    The Certificate in Integrated Behavioral Health and Primary Care - Combined Track is designed for clinicians -- such as social workers, nurses, care managers, psychologists, and physicians -- who are interested in the distinct considerations for providing integrated care to both pediatric and adult populations. Participants will gain assessment, intervention, and consultation skills; will learn strategies to apply these skills in the workplace; and will link with a peer distance learning community to practice new skills and discuss ideas...
