    The CASC Info Session provides an opportunity to learn more about the minor, requirements, course offerings, the msw prefered admissions program, and other ways to get involved in programs, events, and other experiences in the minor. We invite you to join us for a virtual presentation Tuesday, September 22nd, from 12 - 1PM.

    All students currently enrolled in field (SW515 or SW691) must turn in the Field Placement Verification form by this deadline. This form is considered complete after your Field Instructor signs off on it.

    This form only applies to students currently registered for field.

  5. Introduction to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

    September 23, 2020 - 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET

    This presentation will provide a broad overview of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. We will review the guiding philosophy, core processes, clinician therapeutic stance, evidence base, applications, and case examples. After this presentation, participants will have exposure to the ACT method and will know how to find resources to work toward clinical competence.

  7. So Cool So Just: Social Justice Organization Fair 2020 So Cool So Just: Social Justice Organization Fair 2020

    The So Cool So Just (SCSJ) Organization Fair is hosted by the Community Action and Social Change (CASC) Undergraduate Minor and the Ginsberg Center. Since 2012, the fair has created space for organizations to connect with students seeking opportunities to get involved on campus, build community with other social justice organizations, and share activities and programs related to social change.

  9. Trauma or ADHD: Trauma-Informed Tools for Working with ADHD

    September 25, 2020 - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM ET

    ADHD is the most studied diagnosis of children and adults. This course will discuss the latest research findings, provide greater understanding of the effects ADHD has on the brain and how these effects are very similar to those left on the brain by traumatic experiences. We will discuss the spectrum of trauma, and how even small sometimes unnoticed brain injuries can cause symptoms comparable to those recognized as common ADHD symptoms. We will draw a clear connection between the spectrum of trauma and ADHD.

    In the second half of the 4 hour course we will focus on learning trauma informed practice skills to create a more effective setting for supportive treatment of individuals with ADHD and/or traumatic experiences. Using the research to guide our work we will discuss somatic awareness and tools to build safety for a positive healing environment. Giving participants the opportunity to gain tools and understanding around how to help clients who are struggling to understand their own behaviors.

  10. The Nuts and Bolts of Evaluation for Community Organizations | Evaluation Methods

    This course is the third session in a webinar series - The Nuts and Bolts of Evaluation. This six session series is being presented by the Program Evaluation Group (PEG). Each session will focus on a practical aspect of conducting evaluation in community-based organizations. This session will focus on evaluation methods and offer tips and strategies for choosing methods.

    This webinar is approved for 1 synchronous interactive online continuing education contact hour.

    The University of Michigan School of Social Work, provider #1212, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. The University of Michigan School of Social Work maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 5/15/2020-5/15/2023. Social workers participating in this course will receive 1 synchronous online continuing education contact hours.
