Join us in building a supportive and empowering community for BIPOC and international students, staff, and faculty at the School of Social Work!
We know that networking and mentorship seem daunting, especially with so much going on in the world. This is a space designed for you, where your voice is centered, your experiences are valued, and meaningful connections can begin.
This gathering is an informal icebreaker—a chance to meet others, share experiences, and explore opportunities for intergenerational mentorship and networking. Your input will also help us shape future programming that truly reflects the needs of our community.

February 28, 2025 - 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM ET
We invite you to a Community Conversation about Misinformation and Disinformation on Friday, February 28th at 12:00 pm EST.
During our conversation, we will discuss the issues of misinformation and disinformation. According to Debunk.org, misinformation refers to the unintentional creation and dissemination of false or misleading information, which can confuse, influence opinions, harm, mobilize or demobilize people. Disinformation is the deliberate creation and dissemination of false and/or manipulated content, specifically designed to deceive and mislead for harmful or political, personal, or financial purposes (1).
What are your thoughts and experiences with misinformation and disinformation? How do you respond to them, and in what settings do you encounter them?
This will be a time for conversation – to share feelings and thoughts, raise concerns, and talk with one another as an academic community.
