Writing Op-Ed Essays
October 10, 2018 - 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM ET
Writing opinion essays offers one more way for each of us to engage in social justice, by sharing our expertise and our passion through our published words.
Betsy Williams will lead this interactive workshop focused on how to write an op-ed.
We will start with a brief presentation covering audience and purpose, and the content and shape of an op-ed piece. Next, we will break into small groups to brainstorm ideas and provide feedback on drafts.
Bring whatever you have: ideas, a title, an outline, a draft. If you do have a draft or outline, please bring two printed copies for peer feedback. If you never thought about writing for the public, but just want an overview of op-eds, you are absolutely invited, and can choose whether to stay for the brainstorming session.
All members of the SSW community are welcome. Feel free to bring your lunch.
