Nonprofit Board Forum
February 13, 2018 - 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM ET
A consistent mantra has been that “nonprofits should operate more like businesses” if they wish to survive in today’s economy. While nonprofit leaders have to make many of the same day-to-day decisions as their for-profit counterparts, there are critical differences distinguishing these two sectors.
At the same time, new hybrid models of social enterprise and earned revenue have blurred the line that separates these two sectors. Is it time for nonprofits to re-examine how they operate? How much can nonprofits learn from the private sector, and is this the key to their survival?
Join us for a lively discussion with panelists representing opinions from across the spectrum on this highly debatable topic. Confirmed panelists include:
Barb Hiltz, U-M School of Social Work
Yodit Mesfin-Johnson, NEW Center
Ned Staebler, Tech Town & Wayne State University
