Social Work's Response to New Trends in Grief and Loss
December 18, 2015 - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET
This workshop will address the emerging trends in grief and loss in our current society. Participants will learn the theoretical underpinnings for assessing and treating grief and loss. The workshop will discuss types of grief and loss experiences and best practice treatment options. Loss is prevalent in our lives and continues across the life cycle. One's perception of loss is affected by many variables including type of loss, socioeconomic and cultural factors, and that loss is a unique experience for every individual. Participants will learn recent advances in the research literature, and how this relates to advancing clinical practice techniques and future social work positions. Ethical issues and pain management will be included in the workshop as they relate to palliative and end of life care.
