  1. Theory and Practice of Infant Mental Health

    September 19, 2015 - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET

    This introductory course will examine the principles of Infant Mental Health intervention with families of infants and young children. Using attachment theory as a foundation, we will examine best practices in supporting early developing relationships between infants and young children and their caregivers. Special attention will be given to understanding the processes through which practitioners can promote infant well-being and expand parenting capacity to nurture and protect their children.

  2. #SpeakerSeries - Presentation by Professor Laura Sanders

    Title: A Local Community Response to the Injustice of Increased Immigration Enforcement

    This discussion will highlight the work of a local, all-volunteer, community organization called the Washtenaw Interfaith Coalition for Immigrant Rights (WICIR) that has been actively responding to the injustice of increased immigration enforcement in our area for the past 7 years. Come learn the basics about the social justice issues and effects of increased immigration enforcement on individuals, families and communities, and how this organization's unique approach to integrating community organization principals with interpersonal practice and policy-changing strategies has provided an organic and effective response

  3. St. Mary's Class Visit

    September 21, 2015 - 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET

    An admissions representative will be coming to St. Mary's College's BSW program to present on U-M's MSW program.

  4. So Cool So Just Pre-Fair

    September 21, 2015 - 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM ET

    The So Cool So Just pre-fair will provide info for groups participating in the fair, but its primary focus will be creating a space for student orgs to connect with one another, share best practices, address needed resources, and plan with one another.

  5. Placement Verification Due, including Special Programs

    September 23, 2015 (all day)

    Placement verification forms are due for all students currently in field, including Special Programs-- Global Certificate, UMHS, and Integrated Health Scholars.

  6. Global Special Studies Information Session

    September 23, 2015 - 2:00 PM ET

    Global Special Studies are courses where students travel to a country outside of the U.S. to study a topic of their choosing. Students must find a faculty instructor and create a special studies project. Students from all practice methods, areas and curriculum tracks are eligible and will receive 1-6 elective credits for the abroad experience. 

    Come learn about the application process, hear from students who have completed projects in the past and have questions answered.

    Light refreshments will be served.

  7. So Cool So Just Student Org Fair

    September 24, 2015 - 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM ET

    Come check out the amazing student orgs on campus dedicated to social change. Over 30 orgs representing a diverse array of social justice causes and movements will be there. Find the group that speaks to you and start making change!

  8. Discovering Your Professional Leadership Purpose

    Each student comes to the MSW Program with different interests, motivations, and goals. In this workshop, we will look more closely at the idea of your unique 'Professional Purpose' and how you can use this 'Purpose' as a guide throughout your time in the MSW Program and in your professional lives.
