Concepts of Leadership and Management in Community Benefit Organizations
January 10, 2015 - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET

This minicourse explores these concepts in the context of community benefit organizations[CBOs](aka, nonprofits) . While CBOs are organizations, and thus share a lot of features with other kinds of organisations (corporate, governmental) they have many elements of unique structure and stricture. They tend to work with "wicked problems"; they have a different governance structure from corporate and governmental organizations; they have a strong sense of mission and purpose, which is highly motivating but also can lead to under-investment in infrastructure both hardware (physical plant, etc) and software (employee training and development)...
