Fedele F. and Iris M. Fauri Memorial Conference: Disarming Youth Violence: Strategies that Work

The 2014 Fedele F. and Iris M. Fauri Memorial Conference will address issues of children, adolescents and gun violence, focusing on youth as both victims and offenders. The day-long conference featuring national and local speakers is organized by the School of Social Work’s Child Welfare Learning Community. A primary objective of the conference is to discuss critical issues related to gun violence and identify promising solutions.

Fall 2014 Brown Bag Lunches: Suddenly I'm a Manager

This brown bag will feature a presentation by Su Crabb and John Tropman called "Suddenly I'm a Manager." The presentation is very relevant for both macro and micro concentrators. Many interpersonal practice or clinical social workers find themselves in a managerial position shortly after graduating from the program. Tips and tricks to navigating this process will be presented and discussed.

Evaluation Lunch 'n Learn Series: Utilization-Focused Evaluation in the Social Work Context

There are many different approaches in the field of program evaluation. Utilization-focused evaluation, highlighting the usefulness of the evaluation for the clients and users, fits well within the social work framework. At the end of this Evaluation Lunch 'n Learn Series, particiapnts will be able to: (1) identify the core components of utilization-focused evaluation; (2) explain the applicability of utilization-focused evaluation in the field of social work; and (3) begin to implement the key strategies of utilization-focused evaluation.
