Social Justice Grand Rounds
April 17, 2014 - 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM ET
The UMHS Department of Social Work Education Committee and the UMHS Department of Social Work Staff Development Committee invite you to attend the winter term 2014 Social Justice Grand Rounds Series. *CE availability: 1.5 CE per event. No registration is necessary.
Please note these count as ethics CEU’s.
Event: Social Justice Grand Rounds is the only structured event at U-M that formally unites graduate students in social work, field instructors, other social workers, and social work faculty in a collaborative effort to address social injustice through the use of an actual case illustrative of injustice in health care, as presented by a student in Field at UMHS. The student presenter will be Natalie Mikkola.
In its intent and in its content, this event is highly relevant to Social Work ethics, practice, theory, education, standards, policy, & professional development.

The Case of Emergency Management: Allen Park Michigan
April 17, 2014 - 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM ET
This event will include a powerpoint presentation and panel discussion with the Allen Park Emergency Manager, Joyce Parker, Allen Park Advisory Committee member and resident, Kathy Milberg, and three current MSW students.
Food will be provided.

Pre-departure Preparation and Send-off Dinner
April 17, 2014 - 5:30 PM ET
Please join us for a short pre-departure preparation session on important issues you may encounter while you are abroad. After the short presentation we will enjoy dinner together, provided by OGA! In the past this has been a wonderful informal event for students going abroad to connect about their upcoming global experience. All students completing a global field placement, global special study, or the Peace Corps Master's International program are invited.
Please note that the pre-departure preparation is required for all students completing a global field placement or a global special study. PCMI students are not required to come to this part of the session, but we hope you can join us for dinner!
