  5. Latinx Immigration - Legal and Social Work Perspectives

    In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, join us as we host two panelists, Dr. Luis Zayas from the University of Texas - Austin and Carlos Peña of the International Rescue Committee, to discuss legal and psycho-social issues experienced by Latino families from Central America at the US-Mexico border who are seeking asylum and safety and instead experience injustices and trauma. This panel discussion is sponsored by the University of Michigan Latinx Faculty and Staff Research Group, the SSW Global Social Work Pathway, and the SSW Office of Global Activities.   6. JCLP Sukkot Open-House JCLP Sukkot Open-House

    Join students, faculty, and staff of the Jewish Communal Leadership Program to celebrate the Sukkot holiday. 

    The holiday of Sukkot centers around the sukkah (a temporary shelter). Traditionally, Jews would eat, sleep, and gather in the Sukkah during this annual harvest festival. 

    All are welcome -- no, knowledge/prerequisites of Judaism/Hebrew required.
