  3. Community Conversation - Living with Uncertainty

    September 20, 2021 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm

We invite you to a community conversation about living with uncertainty. We'll be talking about the fatigue of continuing to live through a pandemic and how the ongoing uncertainty affects us. This is a time for conversation - ask questions, raise concerns, and talk together as a school community. To aid the conversation, space will be limited. (We know it's coming up soon, so if you miss it, don't fear!  If there is a lot of interest in this topic, we can hold another session soon.) This event will be held via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent out the day of the event.

About the format. A few students and faculty have decided to try something different - smaller community conversations. Our hope is that this can take topics that lend themselves better to verbal dialogue off of email and into a face-to-face (or screen-to-screen!) environment. We will draw heavily on practices from intergroup dialogue and restorative justice.

  10. Alumni Webinar Series | Equity Footprint for Community Organizations

    September 23, 2021 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Note: This webinar series features invited alumni speakers with expertise in a variety of social work practice settings. The series is offered free of charge to alumni of the U-M School of Social Work, but anyone who is interested is welcome to register. You do not need to be an alum to participate in these sessions.

This "Equity Footprint" framework is geared toward community organizations to comprehensively analyze their impact (or footprint) in advancing equity. The model for the Equity Footprint derives from the carbon footprint--both begin with the understanding that harmful systems and practices have been established as the default. Rather than simply minimizing a damaging footprint, an Equity Footprint invites the organization to enact positive, equitable change across several domains including: programs, operations, culture, leadership & governance, evaluation & learning and communications.
