International Coffee Hour

The Office of Global Activities hosts a bi-weekly coffee hour for all international students and visitors in the School of Social Work. In this coffee hour, we will be discussing licensure and employment after graduation in the United States. We will be joined by Michelle Woods, the Director of Career Services at the School of Social Work. She will discuss topics like licensure requirements and job search techniques for international students, and she will be available for a Q&A after her presentation. Milk tea will be served at this Coffee Hour. Please fill out the RSVP form by Wednesday, November 2 at 11:59 PM to confirm your attendance and select you milk tea flavor.

Clinton Global Initiative University Information Session

Looking to lead a global social impact project? Have a great idea, but need tools and resources? Want to grow your network of mentors and experts?
Clinton Global Initiative University provides the opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students nationwide to take an idea for a global social impact project and move it to action. This program connects participants to mentorship, resources, funding streams, and networks of experts to build leadership capacity and bring social impact ideas into reality. The application period for the 2023 cohort of CGI U is open now through December 16!
Join us for an information session with Dr. Ashley Cureton, a current SSW faculty member and former CGI University participant, to learn more about this unique global leadership opportunity. The session will include time for Q&A.
This event will be held in person. A recording will be available for those who cannot attend live.

Trans Passport Day
November 4, 2022 - 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET
The School of Social Work Office of Global Activities, U-M Spectrum Center, and U-M Center for Global and Intercultural Study are collaborating to host Trans Passport Day!
The Washtenaw County Clerk's office will assist students and community members to apply for, renew, or update their passport in the form of a name change or an updated gender marker. This event is also open to students and community members who need to renew or apply for a first time passport, without needing to update a gender marker or make a name change.
Please be aware that all fees required to obtain a passport must be made on the day of the event. Payments for the passport book or card must be payable to U.S. Department of State. Payments for the processing fee must be payable to Washtenaw County Clerk. All payments MUST be a check or a money order. Counter checks are not allowed.
Financial support may be available for students applying for a passport who are requesting name or gender maker change. Please send a message to [email protected] to request more information.

Global Social Work Careers: Alumni Panel

Join the Office of Global Activities for an alumni panel focused on global social work careers in the U.S. and abroad.
During the panel, U-M MSW graduates will share information about their current jobs, the job search process, advice they have for current students, and what they are looking forward to in the future. Time will be included for Q&A with the panelists.
