The foundation field experience is intended to help students apply foundation knowledge and social work skills, values, and ethics in practice settings. The course consists of a field placement which will provide the student with a series of supervised assignments and tasks which have been selected to complement foundation academic courses and to provide a basis for generalist practice. In this context, students will be expected to develop knowledge, understanding, and skills concerning relationships with clients, supervisors, co-workers and external constituencies. In addition, students will be expected to develop a foundation understanding of the context of social work practice as it relates to multiculturalism and diversity; social justice and social change; prevention, promotion, treatment, and rehabilitation; and behavioral and social science research.
