Course Description

The course will canvass the historic treatment of race by the US labor movement, the institutional factors that impeded or facilitated collaboration between the civil rights and labor movements, and contemporary areas of tension within the labor movement. The class will discuss law, organization structure, economics, and the role of critical figures that bridged labor and civil rights movements.
