Halla Jomaa-Jouney

Halla Jomaa-Jouney

Jomaa-Jouney is the executive director of development and alumni relations, where she leads a team of five, focused on major gifts, stewardship, alumni relations and events. She has over 10 years of development experience, including eight years of development leadership at the University of Michigan where she is a respected fundraising leader. In 2020, Jomaa-Jouney was recognized as a recipient of the Victor’s Valiant Award to honor her contributions as an exemplary member of the U-M development community.

Prior to joining Michigan Social Work, Jomaa-Jouney served as the director of development at U-M’s Institute for Social Research (ISR), the world’s largest academic social science survey and research organization. At ISR, she led the development team to reach significant milestones ranging from major gift work to infrastructure-building efforts to grow their development program. Prior to her role at ISR, she served as a major gifts officer at Michigan Medicine, where she represented neurosciences and cardiovascular programs, respectively. Since joining U-M, she has successfully partnered with generous donors and alumni to secure millions of dollars in gifts to support the programs for which they are most passionate.

Jomaa-Jouney is a mission-based professional who finds great joy in making an impact on our world through philanthropic engagement with generous donors. In addition to her development experience, she brings a deep passion for social justice issues, diversity, equity and inclusion, and a life-long commitment to improving the lives of others through her service. Jomaa-Jouney is thrilled to be a part of the social work community, and she looks forward to partnering with the School of Social Work’s terrific faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends as they work to create a more equitable and socially just society.

Jomaa-Jouney lives in Dearborn Heights with her husband, three college-aged daughters and two cats. She is a proud alumna of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she earned a degree in Health Policy Studies.
