MSW Student Career Services Director Michelle Woods is a coauthor of “The Social Work Career Guidebook: How to Land Your Ideal Job and Build a Legacy.” The book encourages readers to take a long view of their career and provides tools and inspiration for every stage of their social work career journey.

Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management Tim Colenback has received the National Deans and Directors of Social Work Admissions (NDDSWA) 2021 Years of Service Award. NDDSWA — a national organization affiliated with the Council on Social Work Education — established this award to recognize and honor exceptional individuals in the field of graduate recruitment and admissions.

The awards committee highlighted Colenback’s achievements in recruiting and cultivating the next generation of leaders and educators.  They also recognized his creative and innovative approach to admissions, the ongoing

The School of Social Work invites grant applications from MSW and PhD students to support individual student projects for anti-racism work, with a specific focus on confronting anti-Blackness, racism against Indigenous peoples and confronting white supremacy. The goal is to inclusively support students working within SSW or in communities seeking to confront racism to the greatest degree possible. 

The School of Social Work “Practice, Policy, and Research MasterTrack” is the largest MasterTrack cohort ever for Coursera with 111 students enrolled.

Student Services Admissions Coordinator Nyshourn Price has been selected by NEW: Solutions for Nonprofits as a Champions of Change fellow. Champions for Change is a racial justice fellowship shifting hearts, minds and actions away from the collective harm of white supremacy and toward a liberated path on which we all get to live into our purpose.

Nyshourn Price. Office of Student Services Admissions Coordinator received the 2018 Leonard F. Sain Esteemed Alumni Award, for demonstrating extraordinary interest and/or commitment to U-M Black students through outreach efforts, recruitment or supportive interest. 

The Office of Student Services Team was selected to receive the Seventh Annual Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award. In close partnership between the Vice Provost for Equity, Inclusion and Academic Affairs and the Associate Vice President for Human Resources, the Distinguished Diversity Leaders Award was established to shine a light on those staff members who work toward achieving a welcoming, supportive and inclusive working environment.

The School of Social Work interviews many applicants to the MSW program each year who either request an interview themselves or are requested to interview by the Office of Student Services and Enrollment Management. Not all applicants will have an interview as part of their admission process.
